Polymeric Based Materials via Palladium- Catalyzed Polycondensation

JUNIPER PUBLISHERS-   ACADEMIC JOURNAL OF POLYMER SCIENCE Abstract The significant access to the structurally pure, high molar mass, N-containing polymers via palladium-catalyzed polycondensation of various aromatic diamines with various aromatic dibromo compounds is an interesting target. One of the major advantages is to apply inexpensive monomers; aromatic amines and aromatic bromides. Furthermore, many diamines are readily available or easy to synthesize giving fast access to numerous new functionalized polymers either by applying amino-functionalized or bromo-functionalized monomers to optimize and improve the polymer properties. With the increasing demand for different functionalized polymers, the focus of relevant studies has been to generate polymers with improved properties by palladium-catalyzed polycondensation. A series of poly(imino ether)s (PIEs), poly(imino ketone)s (PIKs), poly(imino azobenzene)s (PIAzos), poly(imino acridine)s (PIAcs), poly(imino fluor...

JUNIPER PUBLISHERS-   ACADEMIC JOURNAL OF POLYMER SCIENCE Abstract This article aims to define a regulatory approach for future medical technologies to be applied to the research, design, development, and manufacturing of smart medical devices. In the scope of this perspective: A human-centric regulatory approach and regulatory thinking method for 3D printed PEEK polymer implants. Keywords:  POC solution; polymer; smart implant; regulatory thinking; human-centric regulatory; S.P.E.L.; surface functionalization; additive manufacturing Introduction The healthcare industry is in a transformative change: one of the key enablers of these changes is the proliferation of point-of-care (POC) technologies, which can improve clinical outcomes and reduce costs by increased access. POC technologies have the potential to improve the management and treatment of variou...

Preparation and Properties of Polyacrylamide/Titanium Oxide Hydrogels

JUNIPER PUBLISHERS-   ACADEMIC JOURNAL OF POLYMER SCIENCE Abstract In this study, using acrylamide (AAm) as monomer, potassium persulfate (K2S2O8) as initiator, N, N, N’, N’-tetramethylethylenediamine as accelerator, and N, N’-methylenebisacrylamide as crosslinking agents, titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) as inorganic enforcement fillers, the PAAm/TiO 2  organic-inorganic composite hydrogels with enhanced mechanical properties were prepared by free radical polymerization. The obtained hydrogels were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), mechanical and swelling property tests. The experimental results show that PAAm/TiO 2  organic-inorganic composite hydrogels were successfully synthesized, the mechanical property of the hydrogel was improved but the swelling ratio of the hydrogel was decreased due to the addition of TiO 2 . Keywords:  Acrylamide; Titanium Dioxide; Mechanical Property; Swelling; Composite Hydrogel Introduction Hydroge...
